3rd Place in Mixed Doubles at the Jeon-Young Open Badminton Championships
Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 23rd that Jeong Na-eun (23) from the county office badminton team won a silver medal and a bronze medal in mixed doubles at the World Championships held in Germany and the United Kingdom in March.
At the 2023 German Open Badminton Championships held in M?lheim, Germany, from the 7th to the 12th, the Jeong Na-eun-Kim Won-ho (Samsung Life) pair competed for the gold medal against China's Feng Anze-Huang Dongping pair in the mixed doubles final but unfortunately lost, earning the silver medal.
Afterwards, the Jeong Na-eun-Kim Won-ho pair advanced to the semifinals by defeating the Dutch pair Robin Tabeling-Selena Piek 2-0 in the mixed doubles quarterfinals at the All England Open Badminton Championships held in Birmingham, UK, from the 14th to the 19th. They challenged for the finals but were defeated 0-2 by the fellow national team pair Seo Seung-jae-Chae Yu-jung, finishing in third place.
The Jeong Na-eun-Kim Won-ho pair had previously won consecutive bronze medals at the India Open and Thailand Masters held in January.
Including the two tournaments held this time, they have won medals in a total of four consecutive tournaments, demonstrating remarkable skills.
A Hwasun-gun official said, “We are pleased that an athlete from our county has shown excellent skills in international competitions,” and added, “We will continue to show great interest and provide active support to further develop the athletes' abilities.”
