Meet the 'Suncheonman International Garden Expo' First in the Metaverse

Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that it has established the ‘2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo Metaverse Promotion Hall.’

In the Metaverse Promotion Hall, visitors can preview the main contents of the 2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo, which will be held in April.

The Metaverse Promotion Hall is organized around BIG CHANGE 10, the main content of the expo.

In particular, the Garden Stay and Ocheon Green Square zones allow visitors to see both daytime and nighttime views, while the Sunset Garden and Suncheonman Wetland are built with an evening backdrop, befitting their reputation as sunset spots.

The expo’s representative characters, Lumio and Ttungliet, are positioned as guide characters to enhance accessibility to information such as card news explaining the gardens and details about events. It also allows easy access to expo-related channels such as the official expo website and YouTube.

Additionally, interactive content such as the Flower MBTI that suits you, the Garden Dream Ship boarding experience, and a guestbook are provided for users to participate and communicate in real time. Various participation events will also be held during the expo period within the metaverse virtual space.

The 2023 Garden Expo Metaverse Promotion Hall can be accessed by searching ‘2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo’ on portal sites, and its opening date is April 1, the same day as the garden expo’s opening.

From March 27 to 31, it will be open for five days in advance, allowing visitors to explore the garden expo beforehand.

A digital policy official from Suncheon City stated, “We expect the 2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo metaverse space to increase interest among domestic and international tourists.”

He added, “On the 17th, we held a mid-term briefing chaired by the Director of the Future Industry Bureau (Jo Tae-hoon) to check the progress of the project and are accelerating efforts to build a complete metaverse promotion hall. If the public response is positive after the opening, we will consider expanding it to include Suncheon’s representative tourist sites such as Nagan Eupseong and Seonamsa Temple.”
