Kim Dong-yeon's 'Youth Welfare Project' to Begin as Early as April Gyeonggi Provincial Government Gwanggyo New Office Building

Gyeonggi Province will start three youth welfare projects, including the Youth Ladder and Gap Year programs, as early as April.

On the 23rd, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will implement three representative youth welfare projects of the 8th local government administration: ▲Youth Gap Year ▲Youth Ladder ▲Youth Capacity Building Opportunity Support Project starting next month.

The Youth Gap Year project is designed to allow young people to explore what they want to do and seek the life they desire through challenges by conducting experiential activities and self-discovery programs for 2 to 4 months during the process of preparing for further education or employment. 500 youths will be selected and supported with 6 million KRW per person.

The Youth Ladder project targets 200 low-income youths and supports an overseas training program (4 weeks, 8 million KRW) to provide opportunities for social gap reduction and social mobility. This expands and applies the After You program (overseas university training for low-income students), which Governor Kim Dong-yeon introduced when he was president of Ajou University, to Gyeonggi Province.

The Youth Capacity Building Opportunity Support mainly covers support for language proficiency test application fees, providing up to 100,000 KRW per test, up to three times a year, with a maximum of 300,000 KRW annually.

The Provincial Council earlier passed the 'Partial Amendment to the Gyeonggi Province Youth Basic Ordinance' related to the introduction of the three youth welfare projects on the same day.
