Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) is promoting local issue projects through this year's resident participation budget.

On this day, Oh Mideok, co-representative of Gwangju Participation and Autonomy 21, and Kim Jeongwon, senior research fellow at the Korea Culture and Welfare Research Association, participated as instructors and explained the purpose and current status of the resident participation budget system.
A program to improve practical skills such as discovering local agendas and writing project proposals was also conducted.
Seo-gu plans to solicit resident participation budget projects until May and will encourage active participation of residents by organizing and operating resident participation budget regional meetings and resident participation budget committees by district.
Kim Ikang, mayor of Seo-gu, said, "Seo-gu is taking the lead in realizing fiscal democracy by enhancing transparency and fairness in local financial management through the resident participation budget system," adding, "This year as well, we will expand resident participation from the budget planning process to project implementation, making it an opportunity to further strengthen resident autonomy capabilities."
