This visit was carried out ahead of the "Ulsan City-Ulsan National Assembly Members Council Budget Policy Meeting" scheduled for early April, serving as a preliminary briefing on key projects identified at the national budget securing strategy meeting held in February, and to respond to the central government’s budget formulation in May.

The National Assembly delegation was composed of Deputy Mayor Ahn, the Director of Planning and Coordination Office, and heads of relevant departments and divisions responsible for the projects.

During this visit, Ulsan City explained the justification for next year’s national budget projects, including new initiatives, and requested support for budget allocation.

The major proposed projects include research and development fields responsible for the region’s future growth engines: ▲Development and demonstration of eco-friendly fuel-based mobile land power supply technology ▲Establishment of a hydrogen large-scale transport and machinery evaluation platform ▲Construction of a plastic recycling and upcycling demonstration support center ▲Development of biomimetic-based waste plastic upcycling technology.

Additionally, projects requiring large-scale investment such as ▲Construction of the 2nd Myeongchon Bridge ▲Expansion of the Ulju Beomseo to Gyeongju city boundary (National Road No. 14) ▲Construction of Ulsan Urban Railway Lines 1 and 2 ▲Opening of access roads to the Ulsan KTX station area general industrial complex were also included in the list, emphasizing the necessity and implementation plans for social infrastructure.

Government public contest projects such as ▲Creation of the Ulsan Startup Innovation Town ▲Marine leisure tourism hub project ▲Hub-type smart city development project were also discussed in terms of project selection strategies.

An official from Ulsan City said, “It is important to include as many Ulsan projects as possible in the central government’s budget proposal before the end of April, when national budgets can be applied for to central ministries,” adding, “We are going all in on securing national funds by building sufficient consensus with local lawmakers.”
