The Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority is partnering with the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education to provide practical survival swimming training for elementary school students in the province.
On the 23rd, Pyeongtaek Port Authority announced that it will conduct practical survival swimming training for about 7,500 students from 65 schools across 19 regions in the province by the end of this year at the 'Gyeonggi Marine Safety Experience Center,' which it manages and operates independently.
Survival swimming is a swimming method aimed at survival to prevent casualties, and elementary school students in grades 3 to 4 in the province are required to receive 10 practical training sessions annually.
The Gyeonggi Marine Safety Experience Center has been conducting pilot survival swimming education since last year. In particular, due to high student satisfaction, it has decided to expand the program this year.
The main training includes ▲how to wear a life jacket ▲entry and breathing techniques ▲kicking ▲maintaining body temperature ▲escaping from a vessel ▲surviving rip currents, among others.
Kim Seok-gu, President of Pyeongtaek Port Authority, emphasized, "We will do our utmost to ensure that practical survival swimming education is conducted in a safe environment."
