Krafton's PUBG: Battlegrounds (hereinafter Battlegrounds) celebrated its 6th anniversary by revealing key milestones from the past six years on the 23rd.
Battlegrounds was first released on Steam Early Access on March 23, 2017, and has surpassed 75 million global PC and console sales. After its launch, it set a record for the highest concurrent users on Steam with 3.25 million, marking a milestone in the history of the Korean gaming industry.
Available in over 240 countries worldwide, Battlegrounds connects with global users through various platforms including PC and consoles. Krafton has expanded its service channels to Steam, Epic Games, Kakao Games, PlayStation, and Xbox to allow more users to experience Battlegrounds. Additionally, new maps and diverse content have been continuously provided to enhance user enjoyment.
Battlegrounds has maintained its growth momentum with continuous influx of new users, supported by region-specific strategies and a transition to free-to-play. It has been selected as the most played and best-selling game on Steam for six consecutive years, proving its global popularity. As of February, the cumulative number of registered accounts exceeded 150.73 million, with total playtime surpassing 16.36 billion hours. The number of active users has also increased. The CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) region showed the most significant growth, with monthly active users (MAU) increasing by approximately 30% compared to 2017.
Over the past six years, Battlegrounds has collaborated with a total of 20 global intellectual properties (IPs) including games, vehicles, and artists. Collaborations with BLACKPINK and McLaren received great acclaim from users worldwide. This year, Battlegrounds plans to continue various collaborations to provide fresh enjoyment to its users.
