The Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station announced on the 22nd that it conducted a joint fire drill targeting Wolgok Market.

This drill was organized to strengthen autonomous safety management capabilities and prepare for disaster accidents at traditional markets in the jurisdiction, following the fire that occurred on the 5th at Incheon Hyundai Market, which burned down 55 stores and caused significant property damage.


About 40 people participated in the drill, including firefighters, volunteer firefighters, members of the Wolgok Market Merchants Association, and autonomous firefighting team members.


The drill included ▲ joint fire access route securing training with related organizations ▲ fire suppression training using fire extinguishers and fire water facilities (hose reel hydrants) ▲ fire situation communication and life evacuation method education.


Chief Kim Young-il said, “Traditional markets are places closely connected to residents' daily lives,” adding, “Through this drill, we will ensure that market merchants and citizens can use the market safely, and we will do our best to create a safe traditional market through continuous training.”
