Chungnam Attracts Investment of '16 Companies and 3 Trillion Won' in 6 Cities and Counties

Chungnam Province has attracted investments from 16 companies in six cities and counties, including Cheonan. The investing companies plan to establish production facilities in Chungnam with a total investment of 3 trillion KRW.


According to the province on the 22nd, the 16 companies will either newly build or expand production facilities (13 companies) or relocate them (3 companies) on a total site area of 562,427㎡ in industrial complexes located in Cheonan, Asan, Seosan, Nonsan, Dangjin, and Yesan.


The total investment amount is 3.0232 trillion KRW. The province expects that if the investments proceed as planned, 2,646 jobs will be created, with production effects of 1.238 trillion KRW and added value effects of 388.2 billion KRW.


The largest investment project is the new construction of a data center by IDC Dangjin Jeilcha Co., Ltd. The company plans to build a data center on a 43,188㎡ site in the Songsan 2 General Industrial Complex in Dangjin by December 2025, with an investment scale reaching 2.0745 trillion KRW.


IDC Dangjin Jeilcha selected Dangjin, Chungnam as the site for the data center considering its accessibility to the metropolitan area and major industrial cities, relatively lower average temperatures compared to urban areas, and fewer natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods.


In Cheonan, automobile parts manufacturer Hanchang IGM will invest 14.7 billion KRW to expand its factory on an 8,827㎡ site in Ipjang-myeon, and electric vehicle battery parts company Cheonil Jeongong will invest 6.5 billion KRW to expand its factory on a 7,804㎡ individual site in Gwangdeok-myeon.


In Asan, contract catering company D will invest 85 billion KRW to build a new food factory on a 35,844㎡ site in Yeomchi General Industrial Complex, and semiconductor chip manufacturer Hanamicron plans to invest 170 billion KRW to expand its factory on an 8,390㎡ site in Digital General Industrial Complex.


In Seosan, heavy equipment parts and forklift manufacturer Woojin will invest 4.5 billion KRW to expand its factory on a 3,874㎡ individual site in Eumam-myeon, and in Nonsan, sandwich panel manufacturer Cheongam will invest 20 billion KRW to build a new factory on a 66,000㎡ individual site in Sangwol-myeon.


In Dangjin, Gunji ENG, a semiconductor production piping company, will invest 100 billion KRW to build a new factory on a 46,280㎡ site in Hapdeok Induspark General Industrial Complex.


Construction steel manufacturer NI Steel will invest 12 billion KRW to expand its factory on a 30,082㎡ individual site in Songak-eup, Dangjin, and construction steel manufacturer Samyun will invest 29 billion KRW to build a new factory on an 81,005㎡ individual site in Sunseong-myeon, Dangjin.


In Yesan-gun’s 2nd General Industrial Complex, semiconductor chemical company ENF Technology (128,047㎡, investment 200 billion KRW), electronic materials chemical company Korea Alcohol Industry (49,587㎡, investment 150 billion KRW), and semiconductor chemical company Purit (33,485㎡, investment 100 billion KRW) will each build new factories.


Three companies will relocate production facilities from other regions to Chungnam. Tobacco filter manufacturer JSB plans to move its Jincheon factory in Chungbuk to Seonggeo General Industrial Complex in Cheonan (5,981㎡) with an investment of 32 billion KRW.


Additionally, semiconductor equipment and parts company C&D Semi will relocate from Pyeongtaek to Cheonan Technopark General Industrial Complex (4,704㎡, investment 10 billion KRW), and ground station antenna manufacturer Highgain Antenna will relocate from Ansan to an individual site in Bujeok-myeon, Nonsan (16,529㎡, investment 15 billion KRW).


Kim Tae-heum, Governor of Chungnam Province, stated, “With investments from 16 companies, Chungnam has enhanced the competitiveness of key regional industries such as data centers, semiconductors, and advanced new materials, securing future growth engines. The province will spare no effort to support these investing companies to firmly establish roots and grow in Chungnam.”
