Songpa The Platinum is an apartment remodeling project involving the horizontal extension of the Ogeum Anam Apartment, which was completed in 1992. Currently, the construction is underway to transform the apartment from two buildings with 299 households ranging from basement level 1 to 15 floors above ground into two buildings with 328 households ranging from basement level 3 to 16 floors above ground.

The tour was conducted with a site inspection and Q&A session guided by Ssangyong Construction officials. The remodeling construction process and know-how that had been of interest were introduced.

In particular, the association heads who participated in the tour showed interest in the method of extension construction while maintaining the existing building and the technique of connecting elevators to the basement floors.

Jang Seung-ryeol, head of the Sindap Geukdong Remodeling Association, said, “I was impressed by the site that embodies the know-how of Ssangyong Construction, which has the largest number of remodeling completions in the country,” adding, “If reconstruction is difficult for a complex, remodeling is the optimal choice to improve quality of life.”

The association heads and promotion committee chairs who participated in the tour agreed that not only reconstruction projects but also remodeling projects should be further activated in maintenance projects, and that interest and institutional support from Seoul City and other local governments are urgently needed.

According to the Seoul Remodeling Housing Association Council, there are about 131 complexes nationwide currently promoting remodeling, of which 94 apartment complexes have completed association establishment. Currently, about 52 complexes in the Seoul area are promoting remodeling projects, which is about three times the number compared to two years ago.
