A motorcycle snatcher who stole a bag from a woman walking alone was caught by the police.
According to the Masandongbu Police Station in Gyeongnam on the 22nd, a man in his 30s, Mr. A, approached a woman walking after parking at an apartment complex in Masanhappo-gu, Changwon City, around 12:45 a.m. on the 17th, snatched her bag while riding a motorcycle, and fled.
Using the same method, Mr. A robbed cash, jewelry, bags, and other items a total of three times from January 21 to March 18, stealing approximately 5.85 million won.
The police identified Mr. A’s appearance through CCTV footage at the crime scenes and, together with local and traffic police, tracked him down. They arrested Mr. A after he left and returned to his residence during a stakeout.
During the police investigation, Mr. A revealed that he drove a car from his residence in Miryang to Changwon, committed the crimes on a motorcycle, and hid the motorcycle when returning home.
Mr. A admitted to the crimes and was detained on the 21st on charges of theft.
The police confirmed that Mr. A committed the crimes during his recidivism period, about two years after being released from prison for similar offenses, and are investigating additional crimes.
