Jeonnam Gwangyang Fire Station (Chief Seo Seung-ho) announced that on the 21st, it held a CPR business agreement and a donation event for the installation project of the ‘Gas Timer Cock’ to provide effective educational services in response to the increasing demand for CPR education and to prevent residential fires.
The CPR business agreement was made between Gwangyang City Saemaeul Geumgo and Gwangyang Fire Station to continuously provide CPR education to the citizens of Gwangyang. It was decided that CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) usage training will be conducted at 14:00 on the fourth Thursday of every month at the caf? on the 3rd floor of Gwangyang City Saemaeul Geumgo.
Applications for the training can be made through advance reservations or on-site registration, and the training is conducted in 30-minute sessions with around five participants.
Additionally, the ‘Gas Timer Cock’ is a device that automatically shuts off the gas valve when the preset time is reached to prevent food from burning. Gwangyang City Saemaeul Geumgo donated 50 million KRW for the installation support of the Gas Timer Cock to Gwangyang Fire Station through the Gwangyang City Social Welfare Council.
The installation targets vulnerable groups such as elderly people living alone residing in Gwangyang City.
Kim Jae-sook, Director of Gwangyang City Saemaeul Geumgo, said, “We hope that the installation of the Gas Timer Cock will help elderly people in vulnerable groups use gas safely and contribute to fire prevention.”
Seo Seung-ho, Chief of Gwangyang Fire Station, stated, “We expect that continuous CPR education will enable more citizens of Gwangyang to save the lives of cardiac arrest patients in emergencies.” He also added, “By installing the Gas Timer Cock, we will eliminate safety blind spots for vulnerable groups to create a safer Gwangyang and take the lead in spreading public safety awareness and building a safer environment.”
