Jinju City Provides Partial Support for 'Private Kindergarten Parents' Fees'

Approximately 1,500 children aged 3 to 4 years old from private kindergartens

Jinju City in Gyeongnam Province will begin partially supporting the 'Private Kindergarten Parent Fees' from 2023 to realize education welfare without discrimination and to strengthen the public nature of education.

The city will invest a budget of 1.2 billion KRW this year to partially support the 'Private Kindergarten Parent Fees' for about 1,500 children aged 3 to 4 attending private kindergartens every month starting from March.

The support amount for the 'Private Kindergarten Parent Fees' is up to 77,000 KRW per child for 3-year-olds and up to 60,000 KRW for 4-year-olds, with the criteria being the same as the support standards for parent fees at private daycare centers.

Mayor Jo Gyu-il stated, "We expect that the implementation of the 'Partial Support Project for Private Kindergarten Parent Fees' will reduce the burden on parents, enhance equity in child education, and take a step closer to realizing universal welfare through guaranteeing education without discrimination." He added, "The city will continue to provide generous support and sustained interest in creating a quality educational environment for children, the future generation."

In addition to the budget for the 'Partial Support Project for Private Kindergarten Parent Fees' in 2023, Jinju City has allocated 5.3 billion KRW for educational expense subsidies to support educational expenses at 113 kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as the Jinju Office of Education, aiming to create a happy educational city for children.
