The Seoul Metropolitan Government has joined hands with the University Architecture Union of Seoul (UAUS) to ensure the successful hosting of the 15th Seoul Architecture Festival scheduled for September and to expand the base of architectural culture.
On the 22nd, Seoul announced that it will promote the 'Seoul Architecture Festival Linked Exhibition' together with UAUS to revitalize architecture culture and events involving citizens. Earlier, on the 15th, the city signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with UAUS.

The city is preparing to hold the 'Seoul Architecture Festival' this September, and UAUS plans to create a pavilion linked to the event to communicate with citizens on the theme of 'architecture' and provide new experiences. Since March, UAUS has been planning and producing the pavilion in collaboration with this year’s Architecture Festival, which will be exhibited at Gwanghwamun Square during the event period.
Through the MOU with UAUS, Seoul has agreed to mutually cooperate on ▲ the linked exhibition and event activation for the 15th Seoul Architecture Festival in 2023 ▲ and promotional support for successful event operation. Established in 2011, the University Architecture Union of Seoul (UAUS) is an alliance of architecture students from over 20 universities in the metropolitan area, organized to enhance the public accessibility of architecture and provide a platform for creative and academic exchange. Over the past 12 years, it has actively participated in various activities creating diverse architectural cultures.
From September to October, the city will hold the ‘15th Seoul Architecture Festival’ and the ‘4th Seoul Urban Architecture Biennale’ at locations including Songhyeon Open Green Plaza in Jongno-gu and the Seoul Urban Architecture Exhibition Hall. The events will discover outstanding architecture in Seoul, host exhibitions inviting domestic and international architects, academic events, and citizen participation programs.
Han Byung-yong, Director of the Seoul Housing Policy Office, said, “The experimental pavilions presented by UAUS during the Seoul Architecture Festival over the past two years have received great interest and positive responses from citizens.” He added, “We will continue to cooperate with UAUS to expand the base of architectural culture and elevate the status of Korean architecture.”
