Kim Dong-yeon: "Yoon Seok-yeol Government's Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth Plan Goes Against Global Trends" Text and photo posted by Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, on his SNS on the 21st

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon expressed concern that carbon reduction, which can no longer be postponed for the sake of the Earth and humanity, is a premise, and said that the carbon neutrality and green growth basic plan of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, released on the 21st, is very disappointing.

On the 21st, Governor Kim posted on his social networking service (SNS), "The carbon neutrality and green growth basic plan of the Yoon Suk-yeol administration released today goes against the global trend," and criticized, "While lowering the renewable energy generation target from 30.2% to 21.6% (+α) and excessively emphasizing nuclear power generation, it actually pushed the important renewable energy to the background."

He continued, "The policy of expanding nuclear power generation alone cannot secure an advantage in the global competition for renewable energy acquisition," and argued, "Considering the generation of high-risk nuclear waste, it is questionable whether this is a 'sustainable' policy."

In particular, he pointed out, "If sufficient renewable energy supply is not secured, the 'national advanced industry promotion strategy' will remain just a plausible blueprint," and "The government has lowered the greenhouse gas reduction amount in the industrial sector."

He also emphasized, "(This policy direction) is not helpful to companies, and we need to help companies secure export competitiveness in line with international standards such as the introduction of carbon border adjustment tax and RE100," and "We must become a leader, not a follower dragged by the international community's atmosphere in renewable energy."

Furthermore, he promised, "Gyeonggi Province will do its best to keep the promise of 30% carbon reduction by 2030," and "I will achieve public institution RE100 within my term."

In addition, he added, "Newly established industrial complexes will be required to use renewable energy, and existing industrial complexes will increase the supply ratio of renewable energy," and "We will actively support and gradually mandate RE100 achievement in development projects promoted by Gyeonggi Province."

Governor Kim concluded by stating, "We will act right now," and "There is no more time to waste for the Earth and humanity."
