Purple Island is a unique attraction where visitors can walk across three islands at once. It is a beautiful island dyed in purple from village roofs to roads, trash bins, and restaurant dishes.

Following the lavender flowers blooming in spring, the island is filled with the scent of flowers throughout the four seasons, with willow vervain flowers in spring and aster chrysanthemums blooming in autumn. It is recognized as a UNWTO Best Tourism Village and a Star of Korean Tourism selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

In May, a lavender flower festival will be held on the island, making it an ideal tourist destination for travelers seeking beautiful spring flowers.

Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “Shinan is the local government with the most islands in the country. Besides Purple Island, which was selected as an island to visit in spring, there are various islands such as Imjado, shining with tulips and red plum blossoms, and Seondo, filled with daffodils, where flowers each show their own charm. We hope many tourists will visit.”
