Kang Jin-won, Gangjin County Governor, Realizes Communication Administration with Residents

"I Will Listen Closely to Even the Small Voices of the Residents"

Kang Jin-won, the governor of Gangjin County, held the ‘2023 Dialogue with Residents’ on the 20th at the Gangjin Art Hall Grand Theater.

According to the county on the 21st, the dialogue with residents, which lasted about two hours, boldly broke away from the traditional protocol-centered practice and was conducted with a county administration report presented via PPT.

In particular, efforts of the 8th elected administration stood out by strengthening direct communication with residents through prior collection of residents’ pending projects and filming on-site situations on video, aiming to listen attentively to even the smallest voices of residents and incorporate them into county administration.

The video filming was produced after prior collection of a total of 78 residents’ pending projects from 11 towns and townships between January 20 and February 10, divided into four regions (△Jakcheon, Byeongyeong, Omcheon △Doam, Sinjeon, Seongjeon △Chillyang, Daegu, Maryang △Gangjin-eup, Gundoong), and edited in advance.

Through about 50 minutes of video, the vivid voices of residents on site were conveyed without omission, and detailed discussions on solutions were made, creating a new opportunity.

This year’s dialogue with residents was conducted in an overall dialogue format instead of the previous town-by-town tour format, allowing all residents to share the situations and urgent requests of each town and township and seek development plans together, making it a place for harmony among all residents.

A small but enjoyable performance was also introduced to enliven what could have been a dull event. A 5-minute performance by a county office official divided the event into the first and second parts, capturing both concentration and fun.

A total of 78 requests were received during this dialogue with residents, and all requests will be handled after on-site investigation by the responsible departments and securing the budget. Future processing status, including required project costs and timing, will be planned in detail and communicated to the requesters.

Governor Kang Jin-won stated, “‘Icheongdeuksim (以聽得心)’ means that all communication starts with good listening,” and added, “The most important thing in the dialogue with residents is to reflect the voices of each resident felt on site into county administration without missing them. We will continue to increase opportunities for communication by closely examining residents’ hopes and difficulties.”
