Visit to Korea Aerospace Operations Headquarters
Encouragement for ROK-US Soldiers
The U.S. Secretary of the Air Force and the Commander of the 7th Air Force visited South Korea to discuss the security environment on the Korean Peninsula and the Indo-Pacific region with the leadership of the Republic of Korea Air Force. This visit by the U.S. Secretary of the Air Force is the first in five years since Secretary Heather Wilson's visit in 2018.
According to the Air Force on the 21st, General Jeong Seong-hwa, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, met with Frank Kendall, U.S. Secretary of the Air Force, on the 19th to discuss military cooperation measures to advance the ROK-U.S. alliance and combined defense posture.
During the meeting, General Jeong and Secretary Kendall exchanged views on North Korean military provocations, the security environment in the Indo-Pacific region including the Korean Peninsula, and bilateral military cooperation measures. General Jeong officially invited Secretary Kendall to the Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition (ADEX 2023).
Prior to the meeting, General Jeong and Secretary Kendall visited the Korea Aerospace Operations Center (KAOC), where the ROK-U.S. joint exercise "Freedom Shield" (FS) is underway, to inspect the combined defense posture and encourage ROK and U.S. troops. The KAOC visit was accompanied by Lieutenant General Park Ha-sik, Commander of Air Operations Command, and Lieutenant General Scott L. Pleus, Commander of the U.S. 7th Air Force, along with other senior air force officials from both countries.
