A man in his 30s who installed cameras disguised as internet routers inside hotel rooms to illegally film guests has been brought to trial.


The Incheon District Prosecutors' Office Women's and Children's Crime Investigation Division (Chief Prosecutor Gu Mi-ok) announced on the 21st that Mr. A (30) was arrested and indicted on charges of filming using a camera under the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.


Mr. A is accused of installing 14 cameras in 10 hotel rooms in Seoul, Incheon, and Busan over a period of about two months starting in January, illegally filming the bodies of more than 100 guests on 70 occasions.


Investigations revealed that Mr. A installed cameras disguised as internet routers on TV shelves and other places inside motel or hotel rooms, filming towards the beds.


Police, responding to a report from hotel staff, confiscated all disguised cameras, and the illegally filmed videos were not distributed.


Mr. A is also charged with illegally filming himself having sexual intercourse with a sex worker and storing the video.
