On the 21st, the organization announced plans for this year to foster the domestic tourism industry using the Korea Tourism Data Lab, including ▲expanding new data collection and opening ▲providing data and visualization services in the tourism industry sector ▲offering new convergence services for regional tourism analysis ▲and strengthening analysis service functions.

The 'Korea Tourism Data Lab' operated by the organization provides specialized convergence analysis services in the tourism field. It utilizes various data such as mobile communication, credit card, navigation, tourism statistics, and survey research. Until now, the Data Lab only used KT's mobile communication data, but it will now also collect visitor data from SK Telecom.

In addition, the organization analyzes and provides not only private and public data but also internal data secured independently. Big data on the Korea Tourism Interpretation and Guide 1330 service phone and text consultations, as well as nationwide tourism information center consultation status, will be disclosed. User log data from 'Korea All Over' and 'Visit Korea' operated by the organization will also be analyzed to provide major regional tourist attractions of interest to domestic and foreign visitors (English, Japanese, Chinese speakers).

The scope of tourism industry analysis services will also be expanded. To be used for diagnosing the level of tourism industry revitalization, the organization will provide the status of openings and closures of tourism businesses and lodging establishments using local administrative licensing data.

Additionally, a new convergence service will be provided, including a population decline area status service analyzing the tourism substitution effect due to the decrease of one resident in depopulated areas, along with a tourism substitution rate calculator function.

The tourism activation index diagnosing the level of tourism revitalization by basic local governments and tourism industry consumption forecasts based on predictive models will also be provided. A cultural tourism festival analysis service, which analyzes the effects of cultural tourism festivals based on big data, will be available as well.

The organization has also strengthened analysis services by expanding the existing monthly period inquiry function, which was limited to within 12 months, to 18 months and improving it to allow annual analysis. In the center-related tourist spot map menu, a map service is provided to easily identify representative central tourist spots in the region at a glance.

Jo Yoon-mi, head of the Tourism Big Data Strategy Team at the Korea Tourism Organization, said, "We have started customized data analysis services for institutional members to understand the current status of the tourism industry," adding, "We will continuously improve the Korea Tourism Data Lab services to revitalize regional tourism."
