SK Energy Selected as an Exemplary Institution for Industrial Transition Training Center

SK Energy announced on the 21st that it has been selected as a meritorious institution in the ‘Industrial Transition Joint Training Center’ consortium operated by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea.

In April last year, SK Energy became the first company in the refining and petrochemical industry to be selected for the Industrial Transition Joint Training Center and is currently operating the training center at the SK Ulsan Complex (Ulsan CLX) Human Resources Development Center.


The Industrial Transition Joint Training Center aims to cultivate eco-friendly and smart professionals to achieve carbon neutrality for Ulsan’s refining and petrochemical companies. It operates 10 training courses for 30 partner companies and about 300 trainees.


The courses consist of topics such as an overview of carbon neutrality and Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) technology, energy recycling process equipment technology, and smart plant construction technology.


SK Energy plans to expand the number of partner companies and training subjects to more than 50 each by 2026. Through this, it aims to create a total economic value of 4 billion KRW over five years and take the lead in enhancing the competitiveness of the domestic refining and petrochemical industry.


An SK Energy official stated, "Ulsan CLX has set a financial story to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050, promoting greening of the production process and greening of production products," adding, "We will strengthen the co-growth system with Ulsan’s refining and petrochemical companies centered on the Industrial Transition Joint Training Center."
