Jinju City Council Launches Two Research Groups to Explore Legislative and Parliamentary Directions

Connecting Research Achievements to Legislative and Parliamentary Activities by November

The Jinju City Council, which formed two research groups, held inauguration ceremonies on the 20th to take the first step toward exploring autonomous legislation research and legislative direction.

The research groups inaugurated that day are the ‘Jinju City Principal Culture Research Association’ and the ‘Research Association for the Activation of Employment for the Disabled in Jinju City.’ They were officially registered after review by the Council Steering Committee following the 244th extraordinary session plenary meeting last month. The chairpersons of each research group are Councilors Park Mi-kyung and Choi Ho-yeon, respectively.

In this research group activity, 18 out of 22 city council members (82%) participated, showing high interest in the respective research topics. Through the inauguration ceremony, active discussions among council members regarding the research direction were held based on detailed explanations of the establishment process.

Councilor Park expressed her expectations in celebration of the inauguration, stating, “We will re-examine the value of principal culture and contribute to revitalizing the local economy through the development of Jinju City’s unique food tourism policies.”

Councilor Choi said, “There is a need for active solutions to the contraction of the employment market for the disabled, and it is necessary to check whether there has been any negligence in preparing countermeasures,” adding, “I ask for many policy suggestions from council members through the future activities of the research association.”

The research groups, which began activities this month, plan to establish an annual plan and conduct research activities such as meetings, expert lectures, citizen academies, and visits to exemplary cases until November 30. They intend to prepare ways to incorporate the results into legislative and other council activities.
