Visit to Saeul Headquarters Operating the Latest APR1400 Nuclear Power Plant

Hwang Ju-ho, President of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, visited Saeul Nuclear Power Headquarters, the forward base for K-Nuclear Power exports, on the 20th to conduct the on-site management program ‘CEO Insight (In Site)’.

President Hwang continues on-site management at business sites with the management philosophy of “The answer lies on-site. We communicate with on-site employees to share insights and advice for problem-solving.”

On this day, President Hwang checked the progress of key tasks related to the safe operation and construction of the power plant. He especially emphasized the operation of the world’s first artificial intelligence (AI)-based power plant startup and shutdown status monitoring program (SS-POS), newly introduced as part of the industrial technology innovation project.

SS-POS (Start Shutdown-Plant Operating status monitoring System) is a program that predicts and diagnoses the status of the power plant to support early resolution of defect causes.

President Hwang inspected the preparation status for the ambient temperature hydrostatic test in the main control room of Saeul Unit 3, which is under commissioning, observed key process tests, and urged employees to successfully complete the commissioning and construction.

Saeul Nuclear Power Headquarters operates and constructs the APR1400, the latest export-type nuclear power plant identical to the UAE Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, attracting over 230 visitors from potential nuclear export countries last year alone, with nuclear power officials from around the world continuously visiting.

President Hwang said, “Saeul Nuclear Power Headquarters will unite all employees to become the cornerstone of nuclear power exports through world-class nuclear power plant operation and safe construction.”
