A Space for Communication and Empathy Between Mentors and Mentees
Miryang City in Gyeongnam held an orientation and cultural experience event at the Miryang City Urban Regeneration Support Center education hall, attended by about 50 mentors and mentees participating in the "Let's Do It Together! Dream Growth Mentoring Project."
The Dream Growth Mentoring Project is a program that supports learning and healthy character guidance through a 1:1 pairing of mentors and mentees. It operates from March to December and consists of 25 mentors and 25 mentees from low-income and multicultural family backgrounds.

The event held on the 18th included a mentor-mentee pairing ceremony, orientation, key holder making, and a tour of the Uiyeol Experience Center, providing time for mentors and mentees to build intimacy and empathy with each other.
A parent who participated in the event expressed gratitude, saying, "I think it is a great opportunity for our child to study with the mentor teacher and also experience cultural activities."
Kim Gyeongran, Director of the Resident Life Support Division, said, "The cultural experience activities provided an opportunity for mentors and mentees to communicate and build trust. Also, as the only mentoring project promoted in Gyeongnam Province, we will strive to operate it actively."
From this year, the provincial government-supported "Youth Mentoring Project" has been abolished, raising concerns about gaps in learning support and cultural experience activities for children from low-income families.
In response, the city is promoting the "Let's Do It Together! Dream Growth Mentoring Project" as a city-led initiative along with the 8th municipal administration's pledge project, the "Customized Settlement Support Project for Multicultural Families."
