Gyeongnam Province Cracks Down on Illegal Activities in Medical Narcotics Handling Businesses

On-site Monitoring at 2,855 Locations in the Province from the 20th to the 31st

Gyeongsangnam-do will conduct on-site inspections of narcotics handling establishments in the first half of 2023.


According to the 'Gyeongnam-do Implementation Plan,' cities and counties within the province will establish detailed plans on their own and carry out on-site inspections from the 20th to the 31st of this month.


The inspections will target a total of 2,855 locations, including 1,417 hospitals and clinics handling medical narcotics, 1,340 pharmacies, and 98 wholesale businesses.

The province plans to focus on whether narcotics were handled for purposes other than official duties, whether narcotics were used without a prescription, and whether narcotics that were deteriorated, spoiled, contaminated, damaged, or past their usage or expiration dates were sold or used.


Violating establishments will face strict measures such as criminal charges and administrative sanctions.


No Hye-young, Director of the Food and Drug Division, stated, “We will thoroughly manage narcotics within the province to create a safe and healthy Gyeongnam-do free from narcotics misuse and abuse.”
