Supplying 'Eco-Friendly Organic Food' Based on Dasima Technology

A fisheries entrepreneur in Wando, Jeollanam-do, is gaining attention for being the first in the nation to obtain eco-friendly organic seafood certification based on kelp technology.

Jeong Daehan, CEO of Daehan Marine Products (36), was recognized for the excellence of organic seafood and acquired the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety’s Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification. He then became the first in the country to receive both eco-friendly organic seafood certification and food safety management certification simultaneously.

According to the fisheries industry on the 20th, organic seafood certification is a national certification system where specialized certification bodies select and inspect farmed seafood under strict standards to provide safer edible aquaculture products to consumers, and the government certifies their safety.

Since 2020, CEO Jeong has established a systematic processing system for eco-friendly organic seafood after forming cooperative relationships with organic-certified seaweed producers in the Wando area.

In particular, he achieved the remarkable feat of perfectly managing an integrated organic seafood supply system that oversees everything from purchasing organic-certified seaweed to production, processing, and distribution.

Jeong, a graduate of Korea University, was once a promising national basketball player, having played professionally for the Incheon Electroland and Busan KT Sonicboom teams. However, after an injury ended his basketball dreams, he returned to his hometown and started anew as a professional fisheries entrepreneur.

Upon returning home, CEO Jeong developed a premium eco-friendly seaweed brand called ‘Organic Men’s,’ which carries out all processes from production to processing and distribution of raw seaweed products from Wando in an environmentally friendly manner.

He partnered with local young fishermen to promote the clean nature of the pristine Wando sea and introduced a method to mass-produce safe and hygienic organic seafood products that consumers can trust and seek out.

Additionally, through various certifications such as ‘Excellent Technology Evaluation Company’ and ‘Vietnam Seafood Production and Processing Facility,’ he has proven differentiated technological capabilities and quality management skills.

CEO Jeong said, “This eco-friendly organic seafood certification was greatly helped by the young fisheries workers in the Wando region who cooperated with us. Without their help, this would have been impossible.” He explained, “All processes for organic-certified products are conducted in an eco-friendly manner under the strict review and management of the National Fisheries Products Quality Management Service.”

He added, “In the future, we plan to develop processed foods such as organic seafood meal kits, as well as pharmaceuticals and new industrial materials. As a young entrepreneur, I will continuously strive for the development of the Wando seaweed industry.”
