Netflix Introduces 'TV Subtitle Settings' Feature

On the 20th, Netflix announced the introduction of a 'TV Subtitle Settings Feature' that allows users to select subtitle size and style according to their individual preferences.

With Netflix leading the way, services providing subtitles for foreign and Korean content are emerging as a new viewing standard, prompting even terrestrial broadcasters to adopt subtitles. Having pioneered the era of content subtitles, Netflix is now enhancing personalized content viewing experiences by introducing the ability to change the size and style of TV subtitles for its members.

Through the ‘TV Subtitle Settings Feature,’ subtitle size can be adjusted in three levels: ‘Small,’ ‘Medium,’ and ‘Large.’ Various styles are offered, including the ‘Drop Shadow’ effect, which adds black shadows to white text without a background; the ‘Dark’ version with white text on a black background; the ‘Contrast’ version with yellow text on a black background; and the ‘Light’ version with black text on a white background. This TV subtitle settings feature applies to both standard subtitles and subtitles for the hearing impaired.

A Netflix representative stated, “More viewers want to watch content with subtitles because they can accurately grasp information even in noisy environments or places where quiet viewing is necessary,” adding, “Netflix spares no effort in investing not only in excellent storytelling and content but also in features that enhance members’ viewing experiences to provide the best entertainment experience.”
