President Yoon's Approval Rating Falls 2.1%p to 36.8%
People Power Party Drops 4.5%p to 37.0%
President Yoon Suk-yeol and the People Power Party's approval ratings have declined for two consecutive weeks. In the competition for party approval ratings, the People Power Party, which had been neck and neck with the Democratic Party of Korea, was shown to be trailing beyond the margin of error in this poll.
According to a regular poll by the polling agency Realmeter (conducted via ARS automated response method from the 13th to the 17th over five days, targeting 2,505 adults aged 18 and over nationwide, commissioned by Media Tribune), President Yoon's approval rating for his administration dropped by 2.1 percentage points from the previous week to 36.8%. Negative evaluations rose by 1.5 percentage points to 60.4%. This is the first time in five weeks that negative evaluations have exceeded 60%.
President Yoon's approval rating declined in Incheon·Gyeonggi (down 4.0 percentage points, 38.0%→34.0%), Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam (down 3.1 percentage points, 43.8%→40.7%), women (down 3.1 percentage points, 40.0%→36.9%), those aged 70 and above (down 5.8 percentage points, 63.5%→57.7%), those in their 60s (down 5.3 percentage points, 54.7%→49.4%), and those in their 30s (down 4.0 percentage points, 29.4%→25.4%). It is notable that approval ratings declined among President Yoon's core support groups, those in their 60s and 70s and above. Additionally, approval ratings fell among conservatives (down 2.2 percentage points) and moderates (down 2.2 percentage points), while rising among progressives (up 1.7 percentage points).
In party approval ratings, the Democratic Party of Korea recorded 46.4%, up 3.8 percentage points from the previous poll, while the People Power Party fell 4.5 percentage points to 37.0%. The gap between the two parties widened to 9.4 percentage points, with the Democratic Party leading the People Power Party beyond the margin of error for the first time in seven weeks.
The People Power Party showed a downward trend in all demographics except for the Chungcheong region and those in their 60s. In contrast, the Democratic Party of Korea saw notable increases in approval ratings in Incheon·Gyeonggi (up 7.1 percentage points), Daegu·Gyeongbuk (up 6.7 percentage points), Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam (up 4.2 percentage points), men (up 4.6 percentage points), those in their 30s (up 6.8 percentage points), those aged 70 and above (up 6.2 percentage points), and those in their 50s (up 4.5 percentage points).
