K.J. Choi Advances to 7th Place in Round 2 of Hoag Classic

Intermediate total 8 under par 134

Choi Kyung-joo (53) jumped to 7th place on the second day of the Hoag Classic, a PGA Champions Tour event with a total prize of $2 million.

On the 19th, Choi shot a 6-under-par 65 with 7 birdies and 1 bogey in the second round held at Newport Beach Country Club (par 71) in Newport Beach, California. With a total score of 8-under-par 134, he soared from a tie for 28th place the previous day to a tie for 7th place. He is 4 strokes behind Bernhard Langer (Germany), who leads alone at 12-under-par 130.


Choi, who was the runner-up in this tournament last year, has increased his chances of entering the top 10 for the season. Miguel ?ngel Jim?nez (Spain) and Doug Barron (USA) are chasing Langer by 1 stroke with a total score of 11-under-par 131. Fred Couples (USA) and Brian Gay (USA) are tied for 4th place with 10-under-par 132.
