Ulsan City Plans to Expand Honorary Social Welfare Officers

5,241 Active Members Supporting Early Detection and Assistance for At-Risk Households

Do you know about the ‘Honorary Social Welfare Public Officials’?

Ulsan City plans to expand the Honorary Social Welfare Public Official system to build a dense social safety net. Honorary Social Welfare Public Officials refer to a voluntary local human safety network that aims to proactively identify welfare blind spots within the community.

Currently, Ulsan City has appointed a total of 5,241 Honorary Social Welfare Public Officials, including members of the local community security council, neighborhood leaders, and workers in daily life sectors (self-employed, gas meter readers, etc.). They play a role in discovering and supporting various welfare crisis households in towns and villages.

This year, to proactively identify housing crisis households such as those with long-term unpaid rent or unknown residence, 96 landlords from vulnerable residential areas such as motels, one-room districts, and goshiwons have been additionally appointed. The city plans to continue accepting applications and expand the program.

An official from Ulsan City said, “Any citizen who wishes to participate in this meaningful activity of discovering and supporting neighbors in need can apply to become an Honorary Social Welfare Public Official.”

For inquiries and applications related to Honorary Social Welfare Public Officials, please contact the administrative welfare center of your local eup, myeon, or dong.
