Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, attended the entrance ceremony of the Seobu Elementary Gifted Education Center held at the Mapo District Office auditorium on the morning of the 18th.
The Seobu Elementary Gifted Education Center is an educational institution that selects elementary students talented in mathematics, science, and art and provides in-depth education. In Mapo District, it educates gifted elementary students in mathematics at Yonggang Elementary School, science at Ahyeon Elementary School, and art at Mapo Elementary School.
About 500 people, including Mayor Park Gang-su, Lee Yang-sun, Director of the Seoul Western Education Support Office, new students, and current students, attended the event. The first part consisted of an academic progress report, entrance ceremony, and congratulatory speeches, while the second part included a special lecture by Professor Jeong Je-young of Ewha Womans University and a commemorative photo session.
In his congratulatory speech, Mayor Park Gang-su said, “I hope that today’s new students, selected through fierce competition, will fully develop their potential through the gifted education center’s advanced learning and grow into great leaders who will lead our country in the future.”
