National Pukyong National University invited principals of local middle and high schools to discuss and share the university's role and cooperation plans for fostering convergence-type creative talents.
On the morning of the 17th, Pukyong National University announced that it held a "Meeting to Discuss the University's Role and Cooperation Plans with Local Middle and High School Principals" on the first floor of Dongwon Jangbogogwan.
This event was held to discuss and share the university's role and cooperation plans for regional community development and nurturing local talents, with principals from 34 middle and high schools located in Nam-gu and Suyeong-gu, Busan, attending.
Pukyong National University stated that recently there has been growing opinion that universities should serve as hubs leading innovation and development in local communities by fostering convergence-type creative talents, and as the leading national university in the Busan area, it proactively organized this event.
The event began with an introduction of this year's freshman recruitment results, followed by presentations on university development plans linked with the local community and projects promoted by individual colleges targeting middle and high school students, highlighting the university's role.
Additionally, educational donation programs such as high school summer and winter schools, middle school camps and inquiry classrooms, as well as university student volunteer activities for local youth, were introduced to the participants.
Subsequently, suggestions regarding Pukyong National University and other universities were heard, and discussions were held on cooperation plans between universities and middle and high schools for nurturing local talents.
Pukyong National University plans to actively reflect the opinions collected from local middle and high schools in university operations and talent development programs, and request that the Office of Education and the Ministry of Education incorporate them into education policies.
President Jang Young-su said, "I expect today's event to serve as an opportunity for close communication with local middle and high school teachers who raise excellent students and send them to the university."
He added, "As the first university in Busan and a specialized comprehensive university, our university will further cooperate and strive to nurture outstanding talents together with the local community."
