Safety? The 'Hawk-Eyed' CEO Can't Be Stopped... Korea National Oil Corporation Begins Thaw Season Safety Inspections

President Kim Dong-seop, Thorough Inspection of Paving Blocks, Trails, and Retaining Walls

Major Inspection of Ulsan Headquarters and 9 Nationwide Storage Bases

“Be more careful when the frozen ground thaws!”

Korea National Oil Corporation has launched a comprehensive safety inspection of its facilities in preparation for the thawing season. President Kim Dong-seop, who is known for emphasizing ‘safety’ to the point of drilling it into employees’ ears, personally took charge of checking vulnerable facilities.

Since the 16th, the oil corporation has begun a simultaneous inspection of all its facilities, including the Ulsan headquarters and nine storage bases nationwide.

On that day, President Kim, along with disaster safety management personnel, inspected the slopes, stone retaining walls, and embankments around the Ulsan headquarters building. They carefully examined the maintenance status of key facilities and the walking paths open to the public near the building with a “hawk’s eye.”

Through the two-hour inspection starting at 10 a.m., led by the president himself, the corporation compiled a list of seven ‘safety measures’ to be taken.

Safety? The 'Hawk-Eyed' CEO Can't Be Stopped... Korea National Oil Corporation Begins Thaw Season Safety Inspections President Kim Dong-seop of the Korea National Oil Corporation inspected the slopes, stone retaining walls, and embankments around the office building in Ulsan Ujeong Innovation City on the 16th, checking disaster-vulnerable areas during the thawing season.

The inspection team pointed out that the recent warm weather caused height differences between the paving blocks around the main entrance and other walkways, which could cause inconvenience to pedestrians. They also identified seven issues requiring safety measures, including the risk of wooden screens installed around the concrete retaining walls near the building for aesthetic purposes becoming detached due to aging, and partial loss of bamboo supports installed to support landscaping trees.

President Kim Dong-seop spent considerable time inspecting facilities open to the public, such as sports facilities, electric vehicle charging stations, and the narrow paths on the northern slope of the headquarters building.

He also focused on checking the condition of the vehicle access road to the public tennis courts and the wiring around the electric vehicle chargers inside the building, concentrating on facility maintenance.

On that day, President Kim identified a section of the slope path that had become slippery due to moisture and immediately ordered safety measures on site.

President Kim Dong-seop sharply pointed out, “Spring disasters and safety accidents occur because of a lax attitude toward safety management that loosens as the weather warms.”

He urged, “For the safety and lives of not only the corporation’s members but also the citizens using the facilities, let us actively conduct safety inspections of all facilities at headquarters and all storage bases to welcome a safe new spring.”
