Total Revenue Reaches 7.3 Billion Won, Popularity Felt
The 2023 Suncheonman International Garden Expo, opening on April 1, is drawing continued interest as ticket purchases have been streaming in from local governments, companies, hometown associations, civic groups, and individuals nationwide since last year.
Reflecting this popularity, the Suncheonman International Garden Expo Organizing Committee (Chairman Nogwan-gyu, Mayor of Suncheon) announced on the 17th that advance ticket sales for the 2023 Garden Expo have exceeded 5 billion KRW. As of March 16, 2023, the expo's revenue includes 5.08 billion KRW from ticket sales, 700 million KRW in sponsorships, and 1.544 billion KRW in donations, totaling 7.324 billion KRW in revenue.
In particular, cases expressing warm support while wishing for the expo's success have attracted even more attention.
This is a moment when the value of the 2023 Garden Expo, which aims to create a healthy and happy city standard where people and nature coexist harmoniously, shines even brighter.
Last year, the Osan City Women's Support Association donated tickets worth 1 million KRW, saying, "We hope these tickets will provide a good opportunity for vulnerable children who have had difficulty enjoying cultural activities due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic," and distributed the tickets to the homes of Dream Start children.
Additionally, the Korea Water Resources Corporation, which has actively engaged in donation activities such as recycling waste plastics and supporting vulnerable groups, empathized with the purpose of the 2023 Garden Expo and purchased tickets worth 100 million KRW.
Recently, to encourage active participation of local university students in academic conferences and cultural experiences linked to the expo, universities in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, including Nambu University, Dongshin University, Mokpo National Maritime University, and National Mokpo University, have been purchasing expo tickets.
The organizing committee is running an early bird event offering up to a 20% discount on the regular price of 2023 Garden Expo tickets until the 31st. Previously, tickets were sold only through the expo website, Interpark (tickets), Yanolja website, and dedicated apps, but starting from the 1st, tickets will also be available for purchase on 'Naver,' the largest domestic portal, to enhance convenience for visitors.
