Jeonnam Province Initiates Audit Following Victim Reports
A public official affiliated with the Jeonnam Provincial Government allegedly concealed the fact that he was married and formed an inappropriate relationship with a woman preparing for the civil service exam by saying, "I will help you become a public official," prompting Jeonnam Province to launch an investigation.
According to Jeonnam Province on the 17th, the province is conducting an audit on Mr. A, a male public official in his 40s at grade 6, on charges including violation of the duty to maintain dignity and improper solicitation, Yonhap News reported on the same day.
The audit began following a report from Ms. B, who claims to have been victimized by Mr. A. Ms. B stated, "Around December 2021, I met Mr. A through a dating chat app that requires identity verification to use," and added, "At that time, Mr. A, although married, lied that he was divorced and living alone to maintain the relationship."
Ms. B further explained, "Mr. A exploited the desperate feelings of a civil service exam candidate by saying things like, 'I will talk to a provincial assembly member in Jeonnam to help you pass the exam,' and continuously demanded sexual relations," revealing the reason for her report. It is reported that this woman did not pass the civil service exam.
In response, a representative from the Provincial Audit Office said, "Mr. A does not completely deny Ms. B's claims, and it is difficult to disclose specific details about the woman’s identity," adding, "Since the audit is ongoing, we will clearly verify the facts and then decide on disciplinary actions."
