Support for Creating 'Damjang Heomulgi Parking Lot' in Gwangjin-gu

Support for Construction Costs and Security Facilities for Houses Creating Parking Lots by Removing Walls and Gates

KRW 9 million per parking space for detached and multi-family houses and neighborhood living facilities, up to KRW 700,000 per space for apartments

Since 2004, a total of 3,414 spaces created in 1,830 locations; aiming for 40 spaces in 30 locations this year

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is supporting the creation of “parking lots by removing walls” to alleviate parking difficulties.

The “Parking Lot by Removing Walls Project” supports the costs related to creating parking lots and security facilities for detached and multi-family houses, multi-unit houses, neighborhood living facilities, apartments, etc., by removing walls and gates to create parking spaces.

Since 2004, the district has been creating “parking lots by removing walls” to secure insufficient parking spaces, solve illegal parking problems, and alleviate parking difficulties in residential areas through parking space sharing, aiming to make Gwangjin a safe and pleasant place to live. This year, the goal is to create 40 spaces in 30 locations.

First, detached and multi-family houses, multi-unit houses, and neighborhood living facilities receive KRW 9 million per parking space. An additional KRW 1.5 million is provided for each additional space, with a maximum support of KRW 28 million. However, for houses requiring difficult construction due to hilly areas or slope differences, support can be increased up to KRW 11.7 million, which is 30% of the construction cost.

Additionally, up to KRW 2 million is supported if construction is carried out to improve the function of existing attached parking lots in old houses.

For multi-unit houses wishing to receive support, consent for the construction must be obtained from all household heads, and neighborhood living facilities must meet the condition that parking sharing with residents or occupants is possible at night.

Second, apartments can receive support up to KRW 50 million per complex, with a maximum of KRW 700,000 per parking space. Up to 50% of the construction cost for parking lot creation can be supported. However, the apartment must be a multi-unit housing with 20 or more households, approved for construction before December 17, 2013, and must obtain consent from at least two-thirds of all residents to convert at least half of the auxiliary and welfare facilities into parking lots to be eligible for support.

In particular, the district also supports installation costs of up to KRW 300,000 per unit for IoT sensors when promoting parking sharing based on IoT sensors in newly created or existing parking lots by removing walls. Using IoT sensors makes it more convenient for many people to share parking spaces.

Applications for creating “parking lots by removing walls” can be submitted by visiting or calling the Traffic Guidance Division of Gwangjin-gu Office. The district visits the applicant’s house to inspect the site and proceeds with construction through consultation. For more details, please contact the Traffic Guidance Division of Gwangjin-gu Office.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We are promoting various projects such as creating parking lots on leftover land and opening attached parking lots to solve the parking problems that generate many complaints,” and added, “We ask for your interest and participation in the ‘parking lot by removing walls’ project, which can turn your unused space into a parking lot.”
