200 Million KRW Support for Three Schools to Improve Safe and Creative Science Laboratory Environments

Diverse Inquiry Experiments and Convergence Classes Based on Intelligent Information Technology

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) is providing 200 million KRW in educational expense subsidies to create creative and convergent science laboratories that ensure safe environments in aging science labs and enable AI-based intelligent inquiry experiments.

The district, in cooperation with the Seoul Eastern Education Support Office, has decided to support the environmental improvement of four science labs at Sindap Elementary School (two locations), Seoul Samyuk Elementary School, and Jangpyeong Elementary School.

Through the support for creating 'Creative and Convergent Science Laboratories,' the schools will ▲ improve aging lab benches ▲ install safety equipment such as facilities to prevent harmful gas emissions and chemical gas leaks to ensure the health and safety of students and teachers ▲ equip AI-based teaching tools such as electronic blackboards and digital microscopes, enabling various inquiry experiments and convergence classes using real-life data and advanced learning content.

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “I hope students grow into future talents equipped with AI convergence-based inquiry skills in a safe and comfortable environment through creative and convergent science laboratories. We will continue to strive to provide an educational environment where students can actively learn in line with the changing times.”

Dongdaemun-gu has allocated a total education-related budget of 16.2 billion KRW this year, including 10 billion KRW for educational expense subsidies, 5 billion KRW for school meals, 400 million KRW for entrance preparation funds, and 300 million KRW for free high school education. In particular, the educational expense subsidy ranks second among the 25 autonomous districts in Seoul, reflecting requests from each school to support school-specific needs to nurture creative talents in response to the changing educational environment.
