A Total of 114 Works Worth Approximately 10.2 Billion KRW Submitted
Major Works by Renowned International Artists Alex Katz, Joel Mesler Draw Attention
Art auction house K Auction announced on the 17th that it will hold its March auction featuring a total of 114 works worth approximately 10.2 billion KRW on the 29th.
This auction includes works by seven modern artists such as Park Soo-keun, Lee Jung-seop, Kim Whanki, Do Sang-bong, Jang Uk-jin, and Oh Ji-ho, including Yoo Young-guk's 1980 piece "Work," estimated at 350 million to 550 million KRW. In particular, Park Soo-keun's 1965 work "Untitled," estimated at 100 million to 300 million KRW, which depicts two men sitting on the roadside, two women appearing to be going to work, and children, is said by K Auction to be a previously unreleased piece.
Leading the auction are Alex Katz's large-scale floral painting "Yellow Golden Road" from 2020 (estimated at 700 million to 1.3 billion KRW) and a major work by Joel Kessler, along with masterpieces by popular international artists such as Yayoi Kusama, A.R. Penck, Jean-Michel Othoniel, and Ayako Rokkaku. Also up for sale are a set of four works from Lee Ufan's "Correspondence" series and two pieces from the "Wind" series seeking new owners.
Two works by Jung Young-joo and a large-scale piece by Ok Seung-cheol also attract attention. In the category of antiques, ceramics such as "Sipjangsaengdo," Buncheong ware with lotus patterns, white porcelain jars, and white porcelain bowls, as well as wooden furniture like the "Changseolmun Samcheungjang" and "Icheung Seotak," and paintings by Lee Dang Kim Eun-ho, Woo Hyun Song Young-bang, and Goam Lee Ung-ro will be auctioned.
The auction items can be viewed at the K Auction exhibition hall in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, from the 18th until the auction day on the 29th. Preview viewing is free and available without reservation, and the exhibition hall will be open every day during the preview period.
