Held at Gogeum Park Golf Course from May 25 to 26
The 31st Jeollanam-do Disabled Sports Competition will be held in Wando-gun from May 25 to 26.
According to Wando-gun on the 17th, the Jeonnam Disabled Sports Competition will feature 21 events, and the organizing committee is introducing the rules and viewing points of each event every week so that residents and spectators can enjoy the games more interestingly.

This event is ‘Park Golf.’ Park Golf is a compound word of PARK and GOLF, reorganized to enjoy regular golf more enjoyably. It is a sport that can be enjoyed by men and women of all ages and families in a smaller space than a golf course.
While golf requires 14 clubs, Park Golf uses only one club for both tee shots and putting, and since the ball does not lift off or fly from the ground, it is also a relatively safe sport.
Park Golf is usually played in groups of four, based on 9 or 18 holes like regular golf. The game proceeds by hitting the ball from the starting point (tee-off) toward the hole and taking turns to complete the course, with the player who puts the ball into the hole with the fewest strokes winning.
The Park Golf competition of the 31st Jeollanam-do Disabled Sports Competition will take place over two days, from May 25 to 26, at the Gogeum Park Golf Course, with about 150 athletes from 22 cities and counties participating to demonstrate their honed skills.
The events include four categories: men’s and women’s individual competitions, and mixed team competitions (2-person and 4-person teams). Athletes with amputations and other disabilities, spinal cord injuries, visual impairments, and hearing impairments participate after receiving approval for eligibility from the Jeollanam-do Disabled Golf Association.
In the individual events, up to six players per city or county can participate in each detailed event, and in the team events, only one team per city or county can register for the 2-person or mixed 4-person teams.
Players and officials registered in other provinces are not allowed to participate. Each player can participate in up to two matches per detailed event, and teams cannot participate if the mixed team is not formed.
At last year’s 30th Suncheon Residents Sports Festival, the men’s individual gold and silver medals went to Mokpo, and the bronze to Damyang; the women’s individual gold went to Mokpo, silver to Muan, and bronze to Yeongam; the 2-person team gold went to Yeonggwang, silver to Gokseong, and bronze to Yeosu; and the 4-person team gold went to Mokpo, silver to Gwangyang, and bronze to Yeongam.
At the 27th Yeongam Residents Sports Festival in 2019, Mokpo City won three gold and three silver medals, Damyang-gun won one gold and one bronze, and Yeongam-gun won one silver and one bronze.
The key point to watch in the 31st competition in 2023 is whether the traditional powerhouse Mokpo City will win for the third consecutive time or if Damyang, Muan, and Yeongam counties will stop them.
