Following the visit to Korea's Jeungpyeong plant in January this year,
Visit to SKIET's Changzhou production plant in China
Kim Cheol-jung: "Expanding customer portfolio based on global supply system"
Kim Cheol-jung, President of SK IE Technology (hereinafter SKIET), is accelerating on-site management. He is directly overseeing the establishment of a global production system by visiting not only domestic but also overseas manufacturing plants.
From the 13th to the 15th, President Kim visited the lithium-ion battery separator (hereinafter separator) production plant located in Changzhou, China, and met with key local stakeholders. President Kim first encouraged the local employees in China who had endured difficult times due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and expressed gratitude to local government officials for their interest and support.

He also continued activities to secure ongoing cooperation. During his visit to China, he met with officials including Jin Jin-ho (??金虎), Secretary of Changzhou City where the SKIET China plant is located, to discuss cooperation plans. Afterwards, he visited the SKIET China Changzhou plant to inspect the local production line and spent time communicating with the employees at the Chinese site.
The SKIET China Changzhou plant is SKIET’s first overseas production base. Along with the factories in Jeungpyeong, Korea, and the Silesia region in Poland, it is one of SKIET’s major global production hubs. It has an annual separator production capacity of 670 million square meters, which corresponds to the amount of separator used in batteries for approximately 890,000 electric vehicles.
Since his appointment in December last year, President Kim has positioned the establishment of a global supply system as one of the key tasks to secure SKIET’s competitive advantage. In January, he visited the Jeungpyeong plant in Chungbuk and SK Innovation’s R&D center, the Environmental Science and Technology Institute.
He plans to visit the Poland site within the first half of this year to inspect the European separator market and accelerate the expansion of orders based on the global supply system.

President Kim said, “SKIET must expand its customer portfolio by providing integrated value to customers based on technology, cost competitiveness, and a global supply system,” adding, “To achieve the company’s core tasks, we will continuously enhance the competitiveness of global production bases such as those in China and Poland.”
