Park Byung-kyu, Mayor of Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, "Welcoming the Attraction of Future Car National Industrial Complex to Gwangju"

Park Byung-gyu, Mayor of Gwangsan District, Gwangju Metropolitan City, expressed his welcome for the 'Attraction of the Future Car National Industrial Complex to Gwangju' and extended his gratitude to the city of Gwangju for its efforts leading to this achievement.


The Future Car National Industrial Complex is planned to be established on a scale of 3.38 million square meters (approximately 1.02 million pyeong) in the Samdo-dong and Bonryang-dong areas of Gwangsan District.

This is the first new national industrial complex attraction in 14 years since the designation of Bitgreen Industrial Complex, and Gwangju plans to create an 'industrial innovation cluster' that maximizes efficiency by concentrating future car industries such as electric vehicles, hydrogen vehicles, autonomous vehicles, and batteries.


Mayor Park of Gwangsan District said, “The attraction of the Future Car National Industrial Complex is a great event for Gwangju and Gwangsan District,” adding, “Gwangsan District, the heart of Gwangju’s economy where five representative industrial complexes and over 2,900 companies are concentrated, will embrace the ‘core base of the global future mobility industry’ and take a new step as the key hub of Gwangju’s future innovation industry.”


He continued, “Now, Gwangsan District will be called the foundation for leaping forward as Korea’s number one ‘future mobility leading city,’” emphasizing, “The new future of Gwangju, which sparked the wave of job reform in Korea through the Gwangju-type job model, will begin in Gwangsan District.”


He also expressed expectations, saying, “Above all, the Future Car National Industrial Complex will greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy by driving revolutionary growth in the automobile industry and creating sustainable jobs.”


Furthermore, he added, “Gwangsan District will also participate in maximizing synergy effects by linking local upstream and downstream industries that can be integrated with industrial infrastructure such as Jingok Industrial Complex,” and “We will actively cooperate with the local community and spare no administrative support for the success of the Future Car National Industrial Complex.”
