Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters Introduces 70m High Articulated Aerial Ladder Truck ... Deployed in Pohang

The Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters announced on the 16th that it has deployed one 70m articulated ladder truck, which is 18m taller than the existing aerial ladder trucks.


The 70m articulated ladder truck can extend its ladder up to the height of a 23-story apartment building for rescue operations, and it is designed to work in conjunction with existing pump trucks to spray water up to 90m high during fire suppression.

According to the Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters, there are a total of 162 buildings with 30 or more floors in the province. The deployment of the 70m articulated ladder truck is expected to enhance the fire response capability for high-rise buildings, enabling smooth rescue operations and fire suppression in case of fire.


The 70m articulated ladder truck being deployed this time will be prioritized for the Pohang Northern Fire Station, which has the highest number of high-rise buildings, and another unit will be brought in the second half of this year to be supplied to the Gumi Fire Station.


With the introduction of the 70m articulated ladder truck and future reinforcements, the total number of fire aerial trucks operated by the Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters will reach 39 units, consisting of 15 aerial trucks with a height of 52m, 2 articulated ladder trucks of 70m, and 22 trucks of 36m.


The 70m articulated ladder truck is the tallest ladder truck in South Korea, with 22 units currently deployed nationwide.


Lee Young-pal, head of the Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters, said, “We will conduct realistic training to ensure rapid rescue and fire suppression in the event of a fire in high-rise buildings by utilizing the newly reinforced 70m articulated ladder truck.”
