Kim Ki-hyun "Urges Democratic Party to Adopt a Progressive Stance"
Joo Ho-young "The Issue Is Speed. Expect Full Cooperation"
The People Power Party on the 16th called for bipartisan cooperation regarding the government's announced strategy to foster advanced industrial complexes. They also announced plans to establish a Special Committee for Revitalizing the Livelihood Economy (tentative name).
Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, said at the Supreme Council meeting held that day, "The ICT industry, including semiconductors, is a race against time and a matter of national destiny, so bipartisan cooperation is essential to not miss the golden time."
Leader Kim added, "Yesterday, I met with Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, and we shared the opinion to cooperate for the people's livelihood. Urgent economic bills related to livelihoods must be promptly processed. That is the duty of the National Assembly. I urge the Democratic Party to take a progressive stance."

Joo Ho-young, floor leader, also explained at the meeting, "The industrial complex announced this time is completely different in concept from existing complexes. While existing complexes were simply manufacturing production facility hubs, this one is a highly advanced complex integrating functions from research and development, workforce training, manufacturing production, to distribution."
He continued, "If this plan proceeds smoothly, not only will the competitiveness of Korea's future advanced industries develop dramatically, but it will also move from the Seoul metropolitan area-centered first-tier development to a genuine regional balanced development. It will bring numerous quality jobs to the regions and promote the development of local universities, alleviating the concentration in the metropolitan area and further greatly helping to solve the low birthrate problem."
Floor leader Joo said, "The issue is speed," adding, "For this industrial complex development plan to proceed quickly and with momentum, deregulation and shortening of approval periods are necessary." He further added, "Coincidentally, the two party leaders met yesterday and discussed cooperation, and I hope the Democratic Party will fully cooperate with this plan, truly considering the nation's future."
Earlier, President Yoon Suk-yeol, at the 14th Emergency Economic Livelihood Meeting held the previous day, emphasized, "Based on massive private investment amounting to 300 trillion won, we will establish the world's largest new 'Advanced System Semiconductor Cluster' in the metropolitan area," and also stated, "To foster advanced industries such as space, future cars, and hydrogen, we will newly create 14 national advanced industrial complexes covering a total area of 33 million square meters, exceeding 10 million pyeong."
Additionally, the People Power Party plans to soon organize and operate a special committee dedicated to revitalizing the livelihood economy. They intend to proceed swiftly with appointing the committee chairperson next week and other related matters.
