Mercedes-Benz Korea announced that it will exhibit the electric show car "Project MAYBACH," the final work of the world-renowned fashion icon the late Virgil Abloh, at the "2023 F/W Seoul Fashion Week" starting on the 15th.
This two-seater electric off-road coupe was created through the second collaborative project with Virgil Abloh, an architect, creative director, and fashion designer.
Virgil Abloh collaborated with Gorden Wagener, Mercedes-Benz's Chief Design Officer, but Abloh passed away before its scheduled unveiling in 2021. Subsequently, according to the wishes of his family, it was first revealed to the world at the Rubell Museum in Miami, USA.
The pop-up booth will display videos and sketches documenting Virgil Abloh’s vehicle design process on the first floor. Alongside the vehicle exhibition, visitors can also see collaborative items with the high-end streetwear brand Off-White, fabric stickers, postcards, and more.
The pop-up booth and exhibition will be held for five days until the 19th at the Ulrim Square space in Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), Seoul, marking the finale of the Project MAYBACH Asia tour in Seoul.
Thomas Klein, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea, stated, “It is meaningful to unveil the actual 'Project MAYBACH' in Seoul Fashion Week for the first time in Korea, showcasing the innovation of Mercedes-Maybach and the future of electric vehicles through Virgil Abloh’s genius design world.” He added, “As a work created to inspire the next generation and continuously question the present, we expect this pop-up exhibition to provide new inspiration and discussions about fashion and innovation to domestic fashion leaders and citizens.”
