Gwangju Buk-gu Holds Joint Birthday Party for Elderly Living Alone

On the 15th, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it will hold a joint birthday party for elderly people living alone at the Buk-gu Happiness Harmony Center on the 16th in collaboration with the Korea Sharing Federation, a non-profit organization.

This event was prepared to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit 2023 by inviting about 100 elderly people born in the Year of the Rabbit who live alone, offering them a heartfelt birthday feast and providing enjoyment through lively performances.


On the day of the event, the ceremony will begin with singing the birthday song and cake cutting, followed by various performances by popular singers such as Hyunmi, Somyeong, and Minji.


Additionally, lunch carefully prepared with the support of the Korea Sharing Federation will be served, and gifts will be presented.


Ahn Cheon-woong, Secretary General of the Korea Sharing Federation, said, “We are pleased to be able to prepare a meaningful event together with Buk-gu for lonely elderly people living alone,” and added, “We will continue various volunteer activities to comfort the hearts of the elderly.”


Moon In, Mayor of Buk-gu, said, “We thank the Korea Sharing Federation for organizing this event so that local elderly people living alone can briefly ease their loneliness and have a happy time,” and added, “Our district will also steadily promote the recently selected ‘Pilot Project for Integrated Elderly Medical and Care Support’ to become a filial love city where the elderly are happy.”
