Spine Disease and Bone Metabolism Expert... 2-Year Term
Seoul Metropolitan Government Boramae Medical Center announced on the 15th that Professor Lee Jae-hyeop of the Department of Orthopedics has been appointed as the 21st hospital director. Director Lee Jae-hyeop's term is two years, until March 14, 2025.
Director Lee graduated from Seoul National University College of Medicine in 1995 and has been serving as a professor in the Department of Orthopedics at Seoul National University College of Medicine since 2007. He has held positions such as Deputy Director of Boramae Medical Center, Head of the Public Medical Service Headquarters, Director of the Disaster Medical Support Team, Director of the Southern Sunflower Center, Director of the Joint and Spine Center, Head of the Orthopedics Department, and Chair of the Pre-Medical Department at Seoul National University College of Medicine.
He currently serves as the President of the Korean Society for Bone and Mineral Research and has held roles including Executive Director of the Korean Orthopaedic Association, Executive Director of the Korean Spinal Neurosurgery Society, President of the Basic Research Society of the Korean Spinal Neurosurgery Society, and Vice President of the Korean Society for Biomaterials. In particular, he has been actively involved in the field of osteoporosis as the Chair of the Academic Committee of the Korean Society for Bone and Mineral Research and as an Associate Editor of international academic journals.
Director Lee has set the mission of strengthening public healthcare and securing the highest quality of medical services with sustainable management under the motto of being a "tertiary institution of public healthcare." To faithfully carry out the core mission of public medical services, he plans to focus on enhancing coverage for severe diseases among marginalized groups, establishing a systematic infection control system, and building a Safe Respiratory Center to improve the health rights of Seoul citizens. Furthermore, through research collaboration with Seoul National University and Seoul National University Hospital, he aims to produce excellent outcomes in education and research and secure medical quality by strengthening the capabilities of human resources.
