Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Participate in 'EV Trend Korea 2023'

Hyundai Motor Company and Kia announced on the 15th that they will participate in 'EV Trend Korea 2023' to showcase their outstanding electrification technologies.

Now in its 6th year, EV Trend Korea is the only electric vehicle expo in Seoul, held under government leadership to expand private electric vehicle adoption and create a new electric vehicle culture. The event takes place from today until the 17th at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

At this event, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia have set up various exhibition spaces where visitors can experience advanced electrification technologies. Hyundai Motor Company has prepared three exhibition zones: the Ioniq Charging Zone, EV Lifestyle Studio, and Ioniq Life Zone, offering opportunities to experience the excellence of electric vehicle charging technology and a new EV lifestyle.

In the Ioniq Charging Zone, the Ioniq 5 and a model of the ultra-fast electric vehicle charging system E-pit are displayed together, allowing visitors to directly and indirectly experience Hyundai Motor Company's superior charging infrastructure and technology. Hyundai Motor Company has installed a total of 130 E-pit stations nationwide so far. They plan to add 130 more units at 28 locations by the end of this year to enhance the convenience of electric vehicle charging.

The EV Lifestyle Studio uses the ambient lighting colors of the Ioniq 6 to create exhibition spaces themed around three EV lifestyles: a one-person studio, true relaxation, and a leisurely evening life. An SNS hashtag event is held where visitors who upload photos taken in the exhibition space to their personal social media can receive various prizes.

In the Ioniq Life Zone, visitors can explore exclusive customized products that leverage the high marketability of the Ioniq electric vehicle brand alongside the Ioniq 6.

This exhibition space displays a total of 11 products, including a dedicated multi-tap power strip compatible with the Ioniq 6 and an Ioniq character diffuser kit reflecting the design of Ioniq vehicles. Visitors can receive recommendations for customized products suited to their lifestyle at the information desk and participate in an event where taking photos with the recommended products earns them souvenirs.

Additionally, a space introducing ‘Ioniq The Unique,’ a dedicated membership service for the Ioniq brand, is provided, allowing visitors to learn about benefits such as convenient electric vehicle charging solutions and differentiated lifestyle care services.

Kia presents its brand message on design philosophy and sustainability, as well as opportunities to experience dedicated electric vehicles and PBVs, through three exhibition zones: the Brand Zone, EV6 Lineup Zone, and Niro Plus Taxi Theme Zone.

In the Brand Zone, Kia’s design philosophy ‘Opposites United’ is explained through videos and graphics. The ‘EV A to Z’ area, which compiles questions and answers related to electric vehicles, helps resolve various EV-related inquiries.

Moreover, the nonprofit organization ‘The Ocean Cleanup’ introduces the recycling process of collecting plastic waste from the Pacific Garbage Patch and applying it to vehicle parts in collaboration with Kia through an interactive wall, conveying a message about a sustainable future.

In the EV6 Lineup Zone, visitors can see the high-performance electric vehicle EV6 GT, which boasts a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 260 km/h, making it the fastest vehicle in Korean automotive history, along with the dynamically designed EV6 GT-Line, showcasing the diverse lineup of the dedicated electric vehicle EV6.

The Niro Plus Taxi Theme Zone centers around the Niro Plus taxi model and a sculpture representing a taxi stand, demonstrating the versatility of Kia’s first purpose-built vehicle (PBV), the Niro Plus. Additionally, videos depicting Kia’s future PBV vision and a PBV model made from LEGO are exhibited to help visitors understand the PBV concept and its advantages.

Furthermore, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia will provide test drive opportunities for the Ioniq 6 and EV6 GT-Line to participants of the ‘EV Eco Rally 2023,’ a test drive event held as a side event of EV Trend Korea, allowing them to experience excellent driving performance and product quality.

Meanwhile, at the ‘EV Awards 2023’ selected by EV Trend Korea, the Ioniq 6 was recognized as ‘Korea’s Electric Vehicle of the Year,’ awarded to the best model among electric vehicles released domestically over the past year, and also won the ‘Consumer’s Choice Electric Vehicle of the Year’ through direct consumer voting, proving its outstanding marketability.

The EV6 GT was selected in the ‘Innovative Electric Vehicle of the Year’ category, awarded to electric vehicles that stand out for their overwhelming driving performance and innovative technology. A Hyundai Motor Group official said, “This exhibition is an opportunity to communicate Hyundai Motor Group’s mobility direction through various electrification lineups and content. We will strive to develop vehicles that meet diverse customer lifestyles based on our excellent electrification technology.”
