Police Suspect Accident Occurred During Transmission Tower Construction

At around 7:46 a.m. on the 15th, a civilian helicopter crashed on a mountainside near the village hall in Gonggi-ri, Buk-myeon, Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon Province, and two occupants were found in a state of cardiac arrest.

As a result of the accident, one of the two pilots died, and the other pilot was rescued in a state of cardiac arrest by 119 rescue workers and transported to a hospital.

According to the police, there were no secondary damages such as fires caused by the helicopter crash.

The accident helicopter took off at around 6:30 a.m. that day, and it is presumed that the accident occurred when the helicopter got caught on a power transmission line while transporting wires for transmission tower construction.

The police are identifying the personal information of the occupants and investigating the cause of the accident and whether there was any illegal operation.
