Gyeonggi-do Fire Department, 40 Illegal Activities Detected at Logistics Centers and Others in the Province Obstruction of Items Near Emergency Exit

The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters conducted emergency inspections of fire-vulnerable facilities such as logistics warehouses and construction sites, uncovering 40 illegal activities.


On the 15th, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced that on the 9th, they carried out a comprehensive crackdown on 134 locations including logistics warehouses and construction sites within the province, identifying 40 violations. Actions taken included one case of indictment, 26 fines, 29 corrective orders, and one notification to relevant agencies.


At a construction site in Suwon, approximately 1,400 kg of Class 2 flammable solids were stored without permission, exceeding the authorized designated quantity of 1,000 kg, leading to detection.


The Fire and Disaster Headquarters applied charges against the company for violating the Hazardous Materials Safety Control Act. Unauthorized storage or handling of hazardous materials is punishable by up to three years in prison or a fine of up to 30 million KRW.


Additionally, a construction site in Bucheon was found not to have installed temporary fire safety evacuation guidance lines in the basement, and a logistics warehouse in Yongin was cited for obstructing evacuation by storing items near emergency exits.


Other violations detected by the Fire and Disaster Headquarters included damage to fire doors, poor sealing, and malfunctioning emergency lights.


A representative from the Fire and Disaster Headquarters stated, "Through preventive inspections and planned crackdowns on various illegal activities, we will prevent unlawful acts and ensure the safety of residents from disasters. We will also strive to provide answers on how residents can secure their safety."
