Gyeongnam Governor Park Wan-su: "Water Source Moved Far, Firefighting Difficulties, Let's Build a Reservoir"

Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, ordered the installation of mobile water tanks by region.

At the meeting with heads of departments and bureaus on the 4th, Governor Park said, "There was a lot of effort in extinguishing the recent wildfires in Hapcheon and Hadong," adding, "Wildfires not only damage forests but also cause enormous waste of manpower and resources, so special efforts are needed for prevention and early firefighting through surveillance and publicity activities."

He continued, "To avoid difficulties in firefighting due to distant water sources, as seen in the Hadong wildfire case, coordinate with the Korea National Park Service to install mobile water tanks capable of storing 40,000 liters in each region to secure water sources."

Governor Park emphasized, "Any responsible public official must take responsibility if any problem arises, including wildfires."

Regarding the selection of the Ministry of Education's Regional Innovation-centered University Support System (RISE) pilot area on the 9th, he said, "The province must take the lead so that local universities can nurture talents needed for regional industrial development," and added, "Hold discussions with universities and companies, gather opinions from residents, and prepare comprehensive measures such as forming dedicated organizations and establishing innovation models."

On the administrative integration of Busan and Gyeongnam, he stated that forums involving experts should be held to inform residents of the pros and cons of integration and to accurately collect their opinions.

Regarding price management, he said, "Not only public utility fees but also private sectors such as hospitality businesses can stimulate price increases psychologically, leading to overall inflation," and urged, "Even if prices are set autonomously, please thoroughly provide administrative guidance to prevent excessive service fee hikes."

He also instructed to organize policies in welfare, jobs, startups, and other fields promoted by the government and Gyeongnam Province to avoid financial waste and to make efforts to publicize them so that residents can be informed.

Governor Park said, "Let us strive to transform the provincial office into an organization that works for the residents through improving the work environment and holding unity events."
